A quick knit!

There were two lonely balls of Estelle Yarns Merino Big left over from the sale bin in the Orono shop. I went looking for a pattern to use the two to make a quick gift. I found the pattern by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas: Double Split Color-Blocked Cowl. The patterns developed by this company are well researched and easy to follow.

Looking up the projects I discovered that there were a couple done with the yarn. The notes did say that the yarn would work, but there was ‘just enough’.

I was careful to watch the amount of yarn I had knit to be sure there was enough, the finished project is 1 inch shorter than the pattern suggests. The object of the project was just to use 1 ball of each colour.

The needles are huge (10mm) and it worked up really quickly, 2 evenings of knitting. I didn’t bother to ‘block’ the cowl as it really wasn’t required.

The Yarn is Estelle Merino Big! 100% superwash merino, super bulky! Very soft! It’s on sale for $11 each. Making this an affordable quick project for a nice gift!
