According to my photos I began this project in 2022?
I have been working away on this since then, just not very deliberately?
The goal was to create a squishy scarf using the 3 different colours of the hand dyed ‘Alpaca Merino Yarn’ from the nice folks at Fleece Artist/ Handmaiden.
The pattern is basically 1/2 Fisherman’s Rib with an I-cord edge on the sides to keep things tidy.
The yarn is a sport weight, so I used a 3.75mm needle. If you are using a different weight use a slightly smaller needle than the yarn gauge suggests.
Cast on 61 stitches, there are 3 I-cord stitches at the beginning and end of each row. The remaining odd number of stitches are the Rib pattern
There are only 2 rows to remember:
Row one: knit to last 3 stitches, slip 3 stitches with yarn in front.
Row two: knit 3 stitches,* k1b (knit one st in the row below), purl 1* repeat to last 4 stitches, k1b the slip last 3 stitches with yarn in front.
The rest of the design is up to you, if you are using more than one colour you can alternate your colours every 2 rows, or work 2 rows of one colour and 4 rows of another?
In this project I just switched colours when I felt it was time, don’t over think it.
I kept knitting until it was long enough, I tried to use up all the yarn but I was really trying to get this done.
A scarf should be at least as long as you are tall? Apparently I am 2.73 meters tall, thats 9 feet for the non metric!
